POSITION FUNCTION
Provide in scope fleet servicing and secure vehicles and equipment. Support shop staff in shop organisation and cleaning activities. Monitor and maintain fleet shop consumable stock.
KEY DUTIES
Perform routine basic fleet maintenance, cleaning and non-critical repairs to fleet as directed. Support the Fleet and Equipment shops where required with organization and cleaning.
Refuel fleet vehicles as required using all fuel types; Perform DPF maintenance, check condition of vehicles such as fluid levels, tires, lights, belts and hoses and general mechanical condition; report repairs and damage as needed to shift supervisor; transport vehicles as required.
Maintain workspaces and promote shop safety by cleaning work area and removing hazardous materials such as oil, gasoline, or other fluids. Safe disposal of motor oil, tires, and other vehicle fluids. Conduct periodic checks of equipment and work areas to ensure that they are free of clutter and dangerous materials.
Complete and maintain records of equipment inspection, service and repairs. Assist with part orders and pick-ups from suppliers. Monitor and maintain shop supplies for consumable items such as oils, screen wash etc. Maintain tire shop organisation.
Park and secure vehicles, drain air tanks where required and return keys to appropriate location. Perform security checks of yard; report any safety and security problems; perform other duties such as cleaning and organizing shop and washing/cleaning the fleet.
Perform related duties where qualified.
INDEPENDENCE
Work is performed following established routine and reviewed upon completion.
Problems such as mechanical defects and unauthorized persons in yard are referred to supervisor.

KEY SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Drive a variety of heavy vehicles and equipment.
Understand and apply the techniques of basic mechanical repair.
Basic data entry.
Understand and discuss job related matters.
Maintain accurate records.
Work safely on job sites.
QUALIFICATIONS
Formal Education, Training and Occupational Certification:
Grade 10.
Current and valid Class 3 B.C. Driver's Licence with Air Endorsement.
Experience:
1 year of related experience including mechanical experience
or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
OTHER:
May be requested to substitute in a more senior position.
