POSITION FUNCTION

Reporting to Supervisor – Parking Services; responsible for supervision of Parking Ambassadors, support of Parking Services administration including answering emails and phone calls.

 

KEY DUTIES

Coordinate, assign, review and participate in the work of approximately 40 staff (Approx. 15 full-time and various part-time and auxiliary) involved in City parking ambassador functions; ensure schedules, procedures and established performance and safety standards are met; assists in recruitment and on employee selection, promotion, discipline, and development; provide employee training and input to performance appraisals; complete bi-weekly time sheets.

 

Conduct site inspections to check condition and safety of City parkades; arrange for maintenance and repair of equipment as needed; maintain inventory of supplies, tickets, and equipment at ambassador offices; ensure parking counts are accurate; maintain various spreadsheets; maintain parkade security video system; review activity reports.

 

Support Parking Services administration with phone calls and responding to emails (including parking ticket reviews); respond to enquiries and complaints from the public regarding general parking information.

 

Perform related duties where qualified.                                   

 

INDEPENDENCE

Work is performed according to established schedule.

Work is reviewed through reports to supervisor.

Issues such as staff levels or outside purchases are discussed with supervisor.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Effort:

KEY SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Communication and customer service skills.

Organize and prioritize the work of a unit. 

Understand and apply the techniques of parking and customer service operations.

Working Level operation of current City word processing, spreadsheet, and related specialty software.

Interpret and explain bylaws and regulations related to parking.

Maintain accurate records.

Supervise and direct a large staff.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Diplomacy when dealing effectively with the public and outside agencies. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Formal Education, Training and Occupational Certification:

High school graduation.

Current and valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's Licence.

 

Experience:

3 years related experience including some supervisory experience.

or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

OTHER:

May be requested to substitute in a more senior position.
