Senior Land Development Technologist (Continuous)

POSITION FUNCTION
Coordinate the processing of subdivision and strata title applications and legal surveying matters.
KEY DUTIES
Administer the subdivision and strata-title application process; respond to enquiries from applicants and their agents to explain policy and procedures; compose correspondence to applicants on behalf of the approving officer and prepare reports to other departments and Council regarding subdivision and strata title matters, coordinates the legal survey and engineering issues regarding the sale of City owned land; produces and updates policies, procedures, regulations and bylaws.
Instructs surveyors and administers legal survey functions by arranging for the survey of city property and preparation of plans by registered land surveyors; draft legal documents regarding statutory rights of way and development, master, and construction agreements; order title searches;; review development projects and determine and calculate related costs; coordinate land development projects with outside agencies and other departments; provide input into neighbourhood and official community plans.
Maintain legal survey records; prepare, review and inspect engineering design reports to ensure compliance with City specifications; verify estimates provided by developer’s consultants to establish bonding security values for works and services; provide direction and advice to staff on non-routine construction development and land issues.
Perform related duties where qualified.
INDEPENDENCE
Work is generated by permit applications or from designated staff.
Work is reviewed through reports to supervisor and Approving Officer
Issues such as policy changes or financial matters are discussed with supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
Formal Education, Training and Occupational Certification:
Technical School Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology. (2 years)
Experience:
5 years of related sub-division and legal surveying experience.
or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
OTHER:
May be requested to substitute in a more senior position.
Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 35 hour work week
$51.42 per hour, Pay Grade 16
