Concession Worker (10 Auxiliary)  

Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department

 

Join our Seasonal Auxiliary Concession Team for the upcoming Harbourcats season at Royal Athletic Park. Concession Workers are required for Evening and/or Weekend shifts from June 2nd until August 15th 2023. Successful Concession Worker applicants who work this season, are able to return the following season without having to reapply.

 

POSITION FUNCTION

Prepare food items and participate in the operation of the concessions at  Royal Athletic Park.

 

KEY DUTIES

Prepare, cook and serve food items such as hot dogs, popcorn, soft drinks and coffee;

monitor food quality; clean the food preparation and service areas; empty garbage and

secure concession area as required.

 

Operate cash register and make change; use concession equipment such as hot dog grill and coffee urn; stock shelves with supplies such as chocolate bars and chips.

 

Perform related duties where qualified.

 

INDEPENDENCE

Work is assigned and reviewed by supervisor.

Problems are referred to supervisor.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Effort:

Lift and move heavy concessions supplies. (rare)

Standing for extended periods in concession. (frequent)

Mental Effort:

Normal.

Visual/Auditory Effort:

Normal.

Work Environment:

Concession.

Hot kitchen equipment. (occasional)

Work irregular hours.

 

KEY SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Cook and prepare concession food.

Operate concession equipment.

Deal with public in a courteous and tactful manner.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Formal Education, Training and Occupational Certification:

Grade 10.

Food Safe Certificate Level 1. (1 day)

Required to obtain criminal record clearance.

Experience:

6 months of related experience.

or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

OTHER:

May be requested to substitute in a more senior position.

 

Work schedule: As needed

$20.43 per hour, Pay Grade 102
